This is after an collage I made in 2008. I took all of my collages off of the internet except for this blog, and I will probably delete the collages on here too. ( not a judgement on collage at all, just a decision I’ve made for myself.)
Changing Promises, 17 1/2” x 24”, acrylic on paper, 2013, Daniel Ally Lee
This painting is more of an exercise than a finished piece. I made a collage then drew a really loose drawing from the collage. I wanted the painting to be less solid than I usually go for and I was trying some things with the use of line.

It has been over a year since I posted anything on here. I am a terrible blogger. I stopped about the same time, I started my job last August. I will post a few things I’ve been working on. We’ll see how long that lasts.
This one sat unfinished for quite a while. It is still not complete. I wanted to post it, cuz It sort of helped send me in a new direction. Untitled, 18” x 24”, acrylic on paper, 2013
I abandoned this blog, because I got really busy the end of last year. Then, I stopped making toys and decided to focus on art once again. However, it has taken me a little while to figure out what’s what. I know what kind of work I want to do now, so I figured that I should dust this blog off and start sharing my work again.
I’ll pry start with older stuff and sketches, and post new paintings as they are finished.
So, I started a tumblr blog and began posting my own work, old stuff from my “archive”. Then, I started another tumblr with my business name, because the url I picked for the first one was kinda dumb. I decided after mulling it over to keep the first one for featuring other peoples work. I used to have a blog for that< called Art Only, but I quit doing it because it became a drag. This one I’m just gonna put up art I like and not treat it like I’m running a Art In America or something.
Anyway, for this blog I’m gonna post my art work. I plan on doing lots of new paintings and sculpture after the holidays. Right now I’m working on a bunch of plush toys to sell over the holidays. I’ve been working on plush toy design and dabbling in illustration for several years now and I’m feeling good about taking the things I’ve learned from that and bringing it back over to fine art again. Some of the reasoning behind switching is the CPSIA (look it up if you don’t know what it is, it kinda sucks). Even without that as a catalyst, however, I’m positive I would have eventually went in this direction anyway.
I’ve felt sort of conflicted about the whole art/craft thing for a while now and I really want to resolve it for myself while still walking close to the line between the two. I think it will all make sense when I start producing new work but till then I will quit talking about it and I will begin posting some older work here.
I’ve had some fairly disparate artistic interests that I’ve explored over the years I don’t think its all cohesive but it will give anyone interested (who I don’t know) an idea as to where I’m coming from.
