I collaged together a few sketches to make this one. The colors went in an unexpected direction but I’m happy with it. I was going to call it ‘true fan’, but I changed my mind.

I did a painting a long time ago that was similar to this, where my head and torso were kind of floating on a abstract painterly yellow background. I’m not sure what happened to that painting, but I wanted to recreate it in a way, putting it a bit more in context.

I noticed the paper is really wavy in the photo, so I’ll need to put some paint on the back of it and take a better photo soon.

This painting kind of makes me uncomfortable to show to people, or the internet (I’m shy), but I feel like if I’m painting other people, even if they are mostly fictional, in different states of undress then it’s only fair.

I’m not sure I’m completely satisfied with how this turned out. I kept going back and forth on that damn orange.

My next painting’s gonna have way less abs..well, ab muscles that is. and no orange.

I arm-wrestled the colors on this one for some reason. I admit my palette very is ice-creamy and I need to stop greying everything with white. I wanted to use a really bright red. I’m not sure it works, but moving on…

I may go back in and fix the one eye; he looks a little cross-eyed. Otherwise, I like the way this turned out.

It is weird to look back at my stuff and see all the different series. I guess, it gives me incite on how I work. I’m not sure if it is something I can or should try to change, but, I suppose, it is good to be aware of.

I was using this format for my collages for a short time, because I thought it was interesting, but I think the real reason was because, it fit really well on the home page of my website. A website, I haven’t updated in like 2 years, the portfolio page has mostly stuff from 2008, and this is the only collage in this series that made it on to the site. I should probably make a note on my ‘to do’ list.

I abandoned this blog, because I got really busy the end of last year. Then, I stopped making toys and decided to focus on art once again. However, it has taken me a little while to figure out what’s what. I know what kind of work I want to do now, so I figured that I should dust this blog off and start sharing my work again.

This is a collage. I like it. Just playing with diptychs and composition. Also, the googly eyes are pretty funny.
